Elden Ring: Look at the Ultimate Dexterity Build for Invasions
Today, we’re diving into an updated version of my pure dexterity build—one that has really flourished with the release of the DLC. The new content added so many exciting tools that can elevate any dexterity build, and I genuinely believe that dexterity builds are now one of the best options for invasions in Elden Ring.
Why Dexterity Builds Shine in Invasions
Dexterity builds excel in invasions due to their versatility, speed, and ability to deliver devastating burst damage. Unlike strength or intelligence builds, dexterity-focused players can quickly adapt to almost any scenario. Whether you’re dealing with a shielded host or multiple enemies, dexterity offers options that make it easy to navigate through the chaos.
One of the biggest advantages of dexterity builds is the incredible burst damage potential. The Waterfowl Dance, an Ash of War for the Hand of Millennia, is one of the most potent tools in the game, capable of obliterating an unsuspecting enemy if you have the right setup. With the Multi-Hit Talisman equipped, the Waterfowl Dance can become an instant one-shot, making it a game-changer in invasion fights.
Tools of the Trade: Weapons and Ashes of War
One of the core aspects of the dexterity build is having the right weapons and Ashes of War. The Arumi is an exceptional choice, particularly when you’re outnumbered. Its Endure skill provides increased defense, allowing you to trade blows effectively while still dealing substantial damage. The combo of the heavy attack followed by the light attack creates a true synergy that can shred through health bars, especially against shield-bearing enemies who otherwise seem unbreakable.
For those looking for a true chase weapon, the F stands out. This weapon excels at closing gaps quickly, especially when an opponent tries to flee or if you manage to land a backstab or parry. The speed of the F’s Ash of War is astonishing, allowing you to pursue your target relentlessly. It’s also great for handling multiple opponents, thanks to the follow-up heavy attack.
Against shield setups, the Witching Hour Slash is a must-have. This Ash of War cuts right through shields, ignoring them entirely. It’s a great countermeasure against enemies who rely heavily on blocking and can make the difference in tough fights.
No dexterity build would be complete without a great katana, and for me, the Rokshasa is the best in the game. Its hyper armor makes it ideal for trading blows, and the We Cutter Ash of War is perfect for when you find yourself fighting in a team. The katana’s wide move set, coupled with its ability to stagger opponents, makes it one of the most reliable weapons in a dexterity build.
Stat Allocation and Armor Choices
The stat distribution for a dexterity build is simple yet effective. Start by meeting the minimum strength requirements for your chosen weapons (I personally run the Zhander, which requires 19 strength), and then pour the rest into dexterity—aiming for 80 dexterity to maximize damage output. This setup provides both high scaling with dexterity and enough strength for utility weapons.
Armor choice is typically a matter of personal preference, and for me, it’s all about fashion. I enjoy wearing the Scaled Set, a stylish and functional armor that doesn’t hinder my mobility while still offering decent protection. The DLC didn’t change much in terms of armor, so this set remains a staple in my loadout.
Talismans and Buffs
When it comes to talismans, the Multi-Hit Talisman is essential for this build. Many of my weapons benefit greatly from consecutive attacks, and this talisman enhances that capability, especially with skills like Waterfowl Dance. Additionally, I recommend using talismans that increase your overall damage output and mobility. Talismans like the Radagon's Scarseal or Great-Jar's Arsenal are excellent for boosting your dexterity scaling and keeping your agility at an optimal level.
Invasion Gameplay: Showcasing the Build in Action
The real fun begins when you take your dexterity build into the chaotic world of invasions. Mount Gmir, for example, is a challenging place to invade, but it’s also where this build truly shines. As I approach a host and their two phantoms, I can already anticipate the chaos that’s about to unfold. You’ll often find me making the first move with a quick Waterfowl Dance, wiping out one phantom instantly if they aren’t prepared.
The speed of the F is a lifesaver in these situations. If an enemy tries to escape, I’ll easily catch up with them using the Ash of War, closing the distance so they can’t heal or regroup. Against a Shield Enjoyer, the Witching Hour Slash comes in handy to bypass their defense, letting me land consistent hits.
Occasionally, I run into players using some bizarre setups, such as the Rivers of Blood or Blasphemous Billy—weirdly effective, but no match for my dexterity build. Using the Arumi and its Endure skill, I can tank through their attacks while hitting them back with devastating combos.
The Rockshasa Katana comes out when I face off against multiple enemies, its hyper armor ensuring that I’m able to take a few hits without getting staggered, all while dealing massive damage with its sweeping moves. The We Cutter is a fantastic crowd control tool, allowing me to hit multiple opponents at once, causing chaos in team fights.
The Art of the Backstab and Parry
No invasion is complete without the occasional backstab or parry. In many of my invasion fights, I set up opponents for these moments, patiently waiting for them to make a mistake. Whether it’s a reckless jump attack or an ill-timed parry attempt, the dexterity build excels in punishing these misplays.
One particularly satisfying moment was when I landed a parry, followed by a clean backstab, taking down a host and his phantom in a matter of seconds. The dexterity build’s speed and high damage output make these moments incredibly rewarding.
Final Thoughts
The DLC has brought a wealth of new options that make dexterity builds even more powerful, especially in invasions. With a great mix of burst damage, chase-down abilities, and counters to popular setups like shields and heavy armor, the dexterity build is undoubtedly one of the most versatile and fun builds to use in Elden Ring.
Whether you’re using Waterfowl Dance to one-shot a player, chasing down an opponent with the F, or slicing through shields with the Witching Hour Slash, the dexterity build has everything you need to dominate the invasion world. I hope you guys enjoyed this updated build, and as always, good luck out there in the Lands Between!
