Elden Ring Fia Questline Walkthrough Guide

Jul 12, 2025, 11:48:43 PST | Categories : Elden Ring |

In the sprawling world of Elden Ring, almost every NPC has a hidden story, and Fia, the Deathbed Companion, is one of the most mysterious and important. First encountered in the Roundtable Hold, Fia offers to embrace you. But her quest goes far beyond comfort - it ultimately leads to an alternate ending of the game, requires the use of the Carian Inverted Statue, and pits you against the powerful Lichdragon Fortissax.

This walkthrough will guide you through every step of Fia's questline, from your first meeting to obtaining the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince. Be warned: major spoilers ahead.

Quick Quest Summary

· Let Fia embrace you after obtaining two Great Runes to receive the Weathered Dagger.

· Give the dagger to D, Hunter of the Dead, at Roundtable Hold.

· After resting, find D's body with Fia standing over it.

· Advance Ranni's questline until you receive the Carian Inverted Statue.

· Use the statue at Carian Study Hall to invert it and reach the Divine Tower of Liurnia.

· Loot the Cursemark of Death from the top of the tower.

· Proceed to Nokron and give D's Twinned Armor to his brother near the Valiant Gargoyles.

· Defeat the Valiant Gargoyles, then use the coffin to reach Deeproot Depths.

· Defeat Fia's Champions, then give her the Cursemark.

· Enter her Deathbed Dream, defeat Lichdragon Fortissax, and obtain the Mending Rune.

· Return later to find Fia dead and loot her armor, as well as reclaim D's gear and the Inseparable Greatsword.

Starting Fia's Quest

You'll first meet Fia at the Roundtable Hold, where she requests to hold you. If you accept, you'll receive Baldachin's Blessing, which boosts poise and defense but temporarily debuffs HP until used.

To officially trigger her quest, you'll need to have acquired two Great Runes. Afterward, let her hold you again, and she'll give you the Weathered Dagger.

Giving the Weathered Dagger to D

Take the Weathered Dagger to D, Hunter of the Dead, who should also now be in the Roundtable Hold (after first meeting him in Summonwater Village and giving him Deathroot).

Once you give D the dagger, rest at the Site of Grace. Upon returning, you'll find that Fia has murdered D. Loot his Twinned Armor Set and Bell Bearing, then speak to Fia, who will briefly explain her role as a Deathbed Companion before disappearing.

How to Get the Carian Inverted Statue

You can't progress further without the Carian Inverted Statue. To obtain it:

1. Begin Ranni's questline.

2. After gaining access to Nokron Eternal City, retrieve the Fingerslayer Blade from a chest.

3. Deliver it to Ranni, and she'll give you the Carian Inverted Statue.

Using the Carian Inverted Statue

With the statue in hand, head to the Carian Study Hall in Liurnia of the Lakes. Place the statue on the pedestal near the Site of Grace.

This inverts the Study Hall, flipping it upside down and turning it into a vertical dungeon. Navigate carefully through traps and enemies to reach the bottom (which is now the top), and exit to the Divine Tower of Liurnia.

At the tower's summit, loot a corpse to receive the Cursemark of Death - the key Elden Ring Items for continuing Fia's quest.

Finding D's Brother

Next, make your way to the Siofra Aqueduct, accessible from Nokron. Just before the mist gate that leads to the Valiant Gargoyles, you'll find a silent man in front of a balcony - D's brother.

You can give him D's Twinned Armor Set. He'll vow to kill Fia and reward you with the Inner Order gesture. Don't worry - you'll get the armor back later.

Defeating the Valiant Gargoyles and Reaching Deeproot Depths

Go through the mist gate to face Valiant Gargoyle x2, a tough boss fight that summons the second gargoyle mid-battle. Use Spirit Ashes or summon help to assist.

After defeating them, head to the back of the arena. Interact with the coffin to trigger a cutscene that transports you to Deeproot Depths.

Navigating Deeproot Depths and Fighting Fia's Champions

In Deeproot Depths:

1. Rest at the Deeproot Depths Site of Grace.

2. Platform your way up roots to reach higher ground and collect the map fragment.

3. Head toward a building guarded by headless enemies and fire-breathing plants.

4. Cross tree branches to reach a tunnel that opens into a large arena with Godwyn's statue.

Here, you'll face Fia's Champions. The first two come one at a time, but the third appears with an ally. Beat them all to receive Fia's Mist and activate the Across the Roots Site of Grace.

Giving Fia the Cursemark and Entering the Deathbed Dream

Fia will now appear next to Trace. Interact with her and choose to be held. While holding you, select "Talk in secret" repeatedly.

Eventually, you'll be able to give her the Cursemark of Death. She will reward you with the Radiant Baldachin's Blessing.

Rest and speak with her again. After one more rest, she will appear asleep.

Defeating Lichdragon Fortissax

Touch Fia to enter her Deathbed Dream. This transports you to a familiar arena, where you must face Lichdragon Fortissax - a mighty lightning dragon.

This fight is tough due to the dragon's wide-area lightning strikes and aggressive follow-ups. Equip high lightning resistance and summon your strongest Spirit Ash.

Upon victory, you'll receive the Remembrance of the Lichdragon. When you return, Fia is still asleep, but you can now loot her body to obtain the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince.

Aftermath: D's Brother Returns

Return to Fia's resting place again, and you'll find D's brother, now fully armed in D's gear. He has fulfilled his promise and killed Fia.

You can now loot:

· Fia's Deathbed Set

· Twinned Armor (returned)

· Inseparable Greatsword

After one more rest, D's brother vanishes.

Alternate Ending: Age of the Duskborn

With the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince in hand, you've unlocked a secret ending. When you defeat the Elden Beast and reach the Fractured Marika, use the rune instead of linking the Elden Ring.

Doing so grants you the Age of the Duskborn ending - a world where the influence of the Erdtree fades, and death is allowed to return.

Final Thoughts

Fia's questline is one of Elden Ring's most emotional and thematically rich stories. It weaves together death, love, betrayal, and redemption, all leading to a powerful alternate ending. While it requires you to follow both her and Ranni's quests, the payoff is immense, especially once you buy Elden Ring Items to defeat Lichdragon Fortissax and shape the Lands Between into something new.

And let's not forget - it's one of the only reasons to use the Carian Inverted Statue, making it a must-do for lore enthusiasts and completionists alike.
