WoW Classic 20th Anniversary: The Ultimate Gold Farming Guide

Feb 11, 2025, 11:00:52 PST | Categories : WoW Classic 20th Anniversary |

Welcome back to yet another guide to mastering WoW Classic, this time in honor of its 20th Anniversary! It’s hard to believe it’s been two decades since we first stepped into Azeroth, braving its dangers, conquering dungeons, and chasing that ever-elusive epic loot. To mark this milestone, we’re diving deep into one of my all-time favorite gold farms for characters level 50+, a classic that’s still as profitable today as it was back in the 2019 re-release: farming beasts in the Blasted Lands.

But before we get into the nitty-gritty, I want to give a huge shoutout to everyone who’s supported the Complete WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Gold. If you’re looking for a comprehensive strategy to maximize gold while leveling from 1 to 60—ensuring you never miss out on mounts, abilities, or profession upgrades—don’t forget to check it out. Now, let’s get into the good stuff.

Why Blasted Lands?

The Blasted Lands is a top-tier farming spot for level 50+ players, offering:

1. High-Demand Materials: The beasts here drop quest items needed for repeatable quests that reward powerful consumables. These are highly sought after by dungeon runners and raiders alike.

2. Consistent Gold Flow: Even after completing the initial quests, players continue to buy these materials for their consumable buffs, making this farm a steady income source.

3. Bonus Skinning and Mining Opportunities: With plenty of beasts to slay and veins to mine, you can stack up leather and ores alongside quest items for extra profit.

The Quests and Their Rewards

In the Blasted Lands, you’re farming materials for five primary quests. Each quest rewards consumables boosting specific stats like Strength, Intellect, Stamina, and Spirit, ensuring a constant market for these items. Here’s the breakdown:

1. Spirit of the Boar: Requires items from boars, scorpions, and basilisks.

2. Rage of Ages: Needs materials from dogs, boars, and scorpions.

3. Salt of the Scorpid: Uses vulture and scorpion drops, plus boar lungs.

4. Infallible Mind: Collect basilisk brains and vulture feathers.

5. Spiritual Termination: Gathers items from vultures and dogs.

These materials are always in demand, whether players are leveling or preparing for raids. Plus, the repeatable nature of these quests ensures your items will sell like hotcakes on the auction house.

Best Farming Locations

Blasted Lands is vast, but the mobs you’re targeting are concentrated in a few key areas. Here’s my go-to strategy for maximizing efficiency:

1. Southern Blasted Lands:

    • Why Here? This zone is packed with basilisks and vultures—two of the rarest and most valuable mobs for quest items.

     • Tips: These mobs range up to level 54, so be prepared for tougher fights. If you’re a skinner, this area shines, as many players don’t have skinning and leave behind valuable corpses.

2. Northern Blasted Lands (Near Dreadmaul Hold):

     • Why Here? This area has a higher density of dogs and scorpions, making it perfect if competition is fierce in the south.

     • Tips: Look for vulture spawns around the crater and along the side paths—they’re less frequent but worth the effort.

3. Central Blasted Lands:

     • Why Here? A good mix of mob types ensures you can gather a variety of materials without moving too far.

Make the Most of Your Professions

This farm gets even better if you pair it with the right professions:

· Skinning: Many players focus solely on quest items, leaving beasts unskinned. Capitalize on this to farm high-level leather like Rugged Leather and Rugged Hide.

· Mining: The area is dotted with rich Thorium and Mithril veins, making it a goldmine for miners. Keep an eye out while farming!

Additional Drops to Watch For

Farming in Blasted Lands isn’t just about the quest materials. Keep an eye out for these extras:

1. Green and Blue Quest Items:

     • Green items drop fairly often, offering a guaranteed green gear piece that can roll with solid stats.

     • Blue items have a smaller drop chance but can be a game-changer, especially from rare elites.

2. Vendor Trash and Raw Gold:

     • Even the non-quest items can net decent gold when vendored, especially if you’re clearing mobs efficiently.

Tips for Success

1. Choose Off-Peak Hours:

     • This farm can get competitive, especially during peak times. Farming early in the morning or late at night often gives you free reign over the zone.

2. Be Mobile:

     • If competition is fierce in one area, move to another. There are plenty of mobs scattered throughout the Blasted Lands.

3. Focus on High-Value Targets:

     • Basilisks and vultures are worth prioritizing due to their higher value quest materials.

4. Bring Bags and Repair Supplies:

     • You’ll be looting a ton, so make sure you have enough bag space and repair your gear beforehand.
