Path of Exile 2: How to Get and Use Stormcharged
In Path of Exile 2, powerful passives can define the identity and strength of your build. Among these, Stormcharged is a standout, a Notable passive that provides a massive increase to Elemental Damage and Critical Strike Chance. While its effects may seem straightforward at first glance, there are a few quirks to how it functions, especially when integrated into specific builds. This guide explains exactly how Stormcharged works, how to trigger it, and how to obtain it either through the skill tree or via anointment.
What is Stormcharged?
Stormcharged is a Notable passive that appears in the passive skill tree and can also be applied to Amulets via anointment. Here are its effects:
· +40% increased Elemental Damage if you've dealt a Critical Hit recently
· +20% increased Critical Strike Chance
This means that if you've landed a Critical Hit within the last 4 seconds, you'll get a 40% boost to all Elemental Damage. "Recently" in PoE terms typically refers to the past 4 seconds, and this rule applies here as well.
The bonus applies to all types of Elemental Damage - Fire, Cold, and Lightning - not just the portion of damage dealt by Critical Hits. So even if your primary skill cannot crit (e.g., due to Controlled Destruction Support), you can still trigger this buff using another skill.
How Stormcharged Works in Practice
Stormcharged is particularly valuable for builds that rely heavily on Elemental Damage scaling and can consistently trigger a Critical Hit. For example:
Stormweaver Spark Build
This is a common setup that uses Spark as the main damage skill. However, Spark may be linked to Controlled Destruction, which lowers the Critical Strike Chance significantly or outright prevents Crits. To work around this, players often use another skill, such as Orb of Storms, which hits frequently and can Crit easily.
Here's how the synergy works:
1. Orb of Storms is cast and hits an enemy, landing a Critical Hit.
2. That Crit activates Stormcharged, giving you a +40% Elemental Damage buff for 4 seconds.
3. During that 4 seconds, Spark (which can't Crit) still receives the full Elemental Damage boost from Stormcharged.
4. As long as Orb of Storms keeps Critting every few seconds, the Stormcharged buff stays active.
This method allows builds that don't rely on Crit-based main skills to still benefit from Stormcharged's powerful elemental damage bonus.
How to Get Stormcharged in the Skill Tree
Stormcharged can naturally appear as a passive in some areas of the passive skill tree. It's not always easily accessible for every build or starting class, so whether you can reach it efficiently depends on your overall pathing. However, the bonus it offers is strong enough that many builds justify reaching for it, especially hybrid or crit-based Elemental builds.
How to Anoint Stormcharged on an Amulet
If it's too costly or inefficient to reach Stormcharged via your passive skill tree, you can anoint it onto an Amulet. Here's how:
Required Oils (Distilled Emotions):
· Distilled Fear
· Distilled Fear
· Distilled Envy
These oils are a specific type of Distilled Emotions, which only drop in Delirium maps from enemies affected by Delirium Fog. They do not drop from monsters spawned by Instilled Waystones.
Where to Get Distilled Emotions:
· Farm Delirium maps directly
· Purchase them using Path of Exile 2 Currency Exchange from Alva in your Hideout
If you don't have enough currency, you can go to P2Pah to buy POE 2 Currency and then exchange it.
Once you have the oils:
Steps to Anoint Stormcharged:
1. Open your inventory and right-click on any of the three required Distilled Emotions.
2. This opens the Instilling Window.
3. Place your Amulet in the top slot. In the exact order, place:
·Distilled Fear
· Distilled Fear
· Distilled Envy
4. You should see "Stormcharged" appear as the passive.
5. Click Instill.
Now your Amulet has the Stormcharged Notable Passive, and its effects will apply while the item is equipped.
Final Thoughts
Stormcharged is an incredibly efficient and versatile Notable passive, especially in builds focused on Elemental Damage scaling and Critical Hit synergy. Whether you're dealing high-damage Lightning hits or running a hybrid with one skill for Crits and another for raw Elemental Damage, Stormcharged provides consistent and rewarding performance.
If it's out of reach on your passive tree, anointing it on an Amulet is a great solution. As long as you can reliably trigger a Critical Hit once every few seconds, the +40% increased Elemental Damage will keep your DPS soaring.
Keep this passive in mind as you design or optimize your next PoE 2 build-it may just be the keystone you've been missing.
